The BAe Hawk T.1A jet trainer in the years 1979 to 1992: an Xtradecal decal sheet for models in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The British brand Xtradecal has released this sheet for models of the Hawk trainer and light combat aircraft in the T.1A version in 1:72 scale. The span of years in the name defines the period the markings come from. The name does not name particular aircraft, serial numbers or units; you will find the overview in the list that belongs with the sheet. A plastic model of the aircraft is not included in the package.
The Hawk is a single-engined jet aircraft with the crew seated in two cockpits one behind the other, which replaced the older British trainer types in the second half of the 1970s. Power comes from an Adour turbofan. The letter A in the T.1A designation belongs to aircraft modified so that in an emergency they could carry armament and support air defense without losing their training role. The type became an export success and in further versions still serves today with a number of air forces around the world.
Decals with fine lines and lettering need a perfectly smooth base, otherwise air gets trapped at the edges of the printing. It pays to work in small areas and to let the model dry between steps. Pointed tweezers and a damp brush with soft bristles make accurate placement easier; large areas of single-color finish can also be polished before application. Finally, even the surface out with a clear coat to the degree of sheen you want.
