A set of two plastic kits of British aircraft in 1:72 scale: the Spitfire fighter and the Hawk jet trainer. The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set places two British aircraft from different eras side by side. The Supermarine Spitfire is a fighter of the Second World War, recognizable by its slender fuselage and the wing with its rounded outline. The Hawk is a jet trainer of a later generation, on which the pilots of combat aircraft are trained. The pair in one display case shows how the shape of a British military aircraft changed over a few decades.
The package holds two separate plastic kits in 1:72 scale and a sheet of decals. The parts are supplied unassembled and unpainted on their sprues, and the build proceeds in the usual way, that is with cement for plastic models.
Cut the parts from the sprue with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, so that the seam sits with no gap. Glue the cockpit glazing on and mask it before spraying, otherwise paint will get onto the areas that are meant to stay clear. Apply the paint in thin coats, as one heavy coat floods the fine panel lines. Decals hold best on a smooth gloss surface; once dry, go over them with varnish so that the glossy edge of the film disappears.
Two kits in one package suit anyone who wants British aviation of two periods in a collection, and also a job for two weekends. The 1:72 scale lets both models stand side by side on one shelf without demanding space. The package holds the kits and decals, unless stated otherwise; paints, glue and tools are not included.
