An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian experimental aircraft Caproni Campini N.1 in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Valom. It is a short-run kit, and the box is usually complemented by resin and photo-etched parts and a vacuum-formed canopy. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of marking schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Caproni Campini N.1 was an Italian experimental aircraft of the turn of the 1940s, exploring jet propulsion. It was not a true turbine jet engine: a conventional piston engine inside the fuselage drove a multi-stage ducted compressor, which compressed the air, and burning fuel in the stream behind the compressor produced the reaction thrust. This arrangement is called a motorjet (thermojet). Two prototypes were built; the aircraft flew, but it suffered from low performance and high weight and never reached series production. Even so, it is one of the important milestones of the early era of jet flight.
It is a short-run kit with resin and photo-etched parts — count on fewer locating pins and on the need for more deliberate fitting. Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent residue, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); bond the plastic parts with liquid cement for plastic and protect your breathing when sanding resin. Cut the vacuum-formed canopy out carefully with a margin. Apply a primer, spray the colors with an airbrush and bring out the panel lines discreetly with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
