A resin centerline pylon with a MER multiple ejector rack for the F-105 Thunderchief in 1:72 scale from Reskit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory for models of the Republic F-105 Thunderchief in 1:72 scale. The set represents the centerline pylon with a MER multiple ejector rack, that is, the device on which several bombs were hung at one station at a time. Reskit also lists the same item in 1:48 and 1:32, so watch the scale when choosing.
The F-105 Thunderchief was an American single-seat single-engine fighter-bomber, among the largest machines of its category. It served mainly as a bomb carrier, and in the 1960s it formed the backbone of the strike forces deployed in Southeast Asia. It was precisely the centerline station with a multiple rack that was common on this type on strike missions, and it markedly changes the look of the underside of a model. Besides the strike role, two-seat versions intended to suppress air defenses were built as well.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Cut off the casting blocks with a fine saw, sand the surfaces and protect your airways while sanding. It is bonded with super glue; when fitting the pylon under the fuselage it pays to check the position dry first and only then fix it. Apply a primer before painting. Pylons tend to be matched in color to the underside of the aircraft and are a rewarding place for discreet weathering: handling marks, paint worn off the edges and a darker wash in the recesses.
