An injection-molded plastic kit of the American F-102A Delta Dagger interceptor in 1:72 scale from Meng. The Case X designation refers to the early wing variant with slightly raised tips. The mold offers fine engraved detail, a weapons bay that can be open or closed and missile armament; the package holds plastic parts, clear parts and decals for several marking options.
The Convair F-102A Delta Dagger was the first supersonic all-weather interceptor and at the same time the first aircraft on which the area rule was used to reduce drag on passing through the sound barrier. The Delta Dagger formed the backbone of American air defense in the 1950s and 1960s and carried AIM-4 Falcon guided missiles in an internal weapons bay.
Decide in advance whether you will show the weapons bay open with the missiles or closed. Glue the plastic with thin liquid cement and take care over clean fuselage joints with no visible gaps. Natural metal and glossy surfaces call for a smooth base; apply primer before spraying and lay the shades on with an airbrush. The fine engraved detail comes out well after a thin coat and restrained weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
