A photo-etched set of landing flaps for the Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. A metal replacement for the flaps for a build with the wing mechanization extended, an accessory for a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a detail accessory, not an aircraft model. The photo-etched set replaces the landing flaps of the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien fighter, given the Allied code name Tony, in 1:72 scale. The item is listed among photo-etched metal accessories. The manufacturer is Eduard, a Czech maker from Obrnice near Most.
The Ki-61 Hien was a Japanese fighter with a liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine, which set it apart among Japanese machines from the prevailing radials. The Id version was one of the later production modifications. Landing flaps are a rewarding detail on a model: in plastic a kit usually molds them closed or in an exaggerated thickness, whereas photo-etch can capture the real gauge of the metal and reveal the ribbed internal structure. On a model standing on the ground the flaps are often shown extended, so you can see into them.
The original plastic flaps have to be cut off and the surface sanded - bear in mind that this is an irreversible cut into the wing, and try out dry first where the photo-etched parts will sit. Cut the parts off with a scalpel and make the bends over a ruler or in a photo-etch bending tool. Shape rounded forms with a round tool over a soft surface. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before painting, degrease the photo-etch and spray it with primer, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth metal.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The package does not contain a model, paints or glue.
