A mask for the cockpit and the front windows of the L-410UVP Turbolet transport aircraft for the 1:72 kit from Prostejov. Intended for the Kovozavody Prostejov kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The nineteen-seat L-410 from the Kunovice works came about at the end of the 1960s as a general-purpose machine for short routes and unpaved strips. The UVP version of the late 1970s received a lengthened rear fuselage and markedly enlarged tail surfaces, thanks to which it could take off from and land at small airfields even with one engine running. Over a thousand were built and they spread from flying clubs through army units to remote routes in Siberia, where some are still flying today. The target kit is Kovozavody Prostejov.
On the real aircraft the cockpit has a split windscreen and a row of side windows with thin frames, which mask badly on a model. The films on this sheet are pre-cut to their shape, so you only lift them off the backing and lay them on. The resulting paint boundary is straight along its whole length and has none of the steps that arise when strips of tape are laid side by side.
First wash the clear moldings in lukewarm water and let them dry in the air rather than wiping them with a cloth. Seat the film with tweezers and run a stick over the whole area so that no air bubble is left anywhere. Apply the paint from the edge toward the middle in two or three light coats and take the mask off before the finish has fully cured.
