The MaxxPro is an American wheeled armored vehicle of the MRAP category, that is, a machine built above all against mines and improvised explosive devices. Typical of it are a high-set hull with a V-shaped bottom, which deflects the blast wave away from the crew compartment, a heavily armored cab and drive to both axles. The M1224A1 version carries the add-on armor package designated MEAP, which adds outer panels and changes the shape of the vehicle's sides compared with earlier machines.
MRAP vehicles are rewarding in a display case because of their shape: the angular build, the tall silhouette and the broken surface with a quantity of protrusions look quite different from tracked vehicles. In 1:72 scale the machine fits beside other models in the same scale and serves well as an addition to a diorama with present-day vehicles.
Separate the parts carefully with a sharp blade, clean the mating surfaces up and join them with cement intended for plastic models. The small parts on the hull and the cab are simpler to fit after the base color has been sprayed. Wash and degrease the surface before painting, so that the paint holds. It is worth bringing the broken surface of the add-on armor out with a darker shade in the recesses and a lighter touch on the edges.
The set is intended for those interested in present-day military vehicles and for builders of dioramas from the recent overseas operations. Paints, glue and other modeling supplies are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise; the exact contents of the package and the recommended procedure are given by the manufacturer's instructions.
