A model of the giant German six-engined transport aircraft Messerschmitt Me 323 D-1 Gigant in 1:72 scale from Italeri. A large model that makes an impression in a display case. A kit to be glued and painted.
The Me 323 Gigant came about by powering the giant Me 321 cargo glider — it received six Gnome-Rhône 14N radial engines. It was among the largest land-based transport aircraft of the Second World War; the hinged nose made it possible to load vehicles. Because of its size and low speed, however, it was vulnerable (the destruction of a formation in the Palm Sunday Massacre of April 1943 is well known).
It is worth building the model in subassemblies and testing the fit of the parts dry before gluing. Paint the cockpit and the interior and, if you wish, pick them out with a wash before closing the fuselage. For the best result use a good thin cement for plastic, fine files and, after the primer coat, an airbrush. Apply the decals over a gloss coat and seal them with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
