This limited edition from the South Korean brand Academy contains two separate injection-molded plastic models in 1:72 scale in one package - the piston fighter P-47D Thunderbolt and the jet fighter F-86E Sabre. What links them is the figure of the American fighter ace Francis Gabreski, nicknamed Gabby, who flew both types. The package therefore includes two complete kits and a decal sheet for the machines connected with this pilot.
The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was a massive American fighter of the Second World War with a radial engine and heavy armament, famous for its toughness and for its ability to attack ground targets. The North American F-86 Sabre was the first generation of American jet fighters with a swept wing and became famous in the Korean War in its duels with the MiG-15. Francis Gabreski was among the most successful American aces - he scored victories in both conflicts, first on the Thunderbolt and later on the Sabre.
Build the two models separately; glue the parts with modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the fuselage seams. Apply primer before painting and lay the colors on in thin coats with an airbrush. The metal surfaces of the Sabre will reward good silvery finishes, while the Thunderbolt comes into its own with fine panel shading.
The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
