Injection-molded plastic kit of the German medium tank Panzer IV Ausf. F1 in 1:72 scale by Flyhawk. Flyhawk is known for its finely detailed kits in small scale – this kit too combines precise plastic parts with photo-etched and 3D-printed parts for maximum detail. The F1 version is distinguished by the short 7.5 cm KwK 37 gun (the so-called short barrel). Given the 1:72 scale, the parts are very fine and small, and assembly calls for care.
The Panzerkampfwagen IV was the most numerous German medium tank of the Second World War and the only one produced throughout the entire conflict. Early versions, including the Ausf. F1, carried the short 7.5 cm KwK 37 gun with an L/24 barrel, intended mainly for firing at soft and fortified targets. Compared with earlier versions, the F1 received thicker armor and wider tracks with a modified running gear. Later versions then switched to the long anti-tank gun.
We recommend a thin liquid cement for the plastic and cyanoacrylate glue for the etched and 3D-printed parts; clean the 3D parts before gluing. Assemble and paint the running gear and wheels before closing up the hull. Use a good primer and an airbrush for the base color; washes and pigments for dust and mud effects will bring out the transitions and shading. When working with such small parts, proceed carefully so the fine detail is not lost.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
