An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-80B main battle tank in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. It is a modern kit with well worked-out exterior detail, a one-piece lower hull, a multi-part barrel and clear parts for the periscopes. Photo-etched sheet, a decal sheet and color instructions with painting schemes are included as well.
The T-80 was a Soviet main battle tank that followed on from the T-64 and was the first production tank in the world to use a gas turbine for propulsion. The T-80B version received a new turret, a more advanced fire control system and an autoloader that allowed guided anti-tank missiles to be launched through the barrel. Improved composite armor and a more powerful powerplant made it one of the most modern tanks of its day in the 1980s.
Assemble and paint the running gear before finishing the hull. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply the Soviet green with an airbrush and bring it to life with light highlighting of the surfaces and weathering with washes and pigments, which emphasize the cast surfaces of the turret.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
