A set of two plastic kits in 1:72 scale: the German Tiger I heavy tank and the British Sherman Firefly. They are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set puts two tanks against each other that really did meet in the Second World War. The German Tiger I was a heavy tank with massive armor and the 8.8 cm KwK 36 gun with a barrel length of 56 calibers; its angular silhouette is among the best known of all. The British Sherman Firefly, by contrast, was a conversion of the ordinary Sherman medium tank into which a 17-pounder gun with a long barrel and a pronounced muzzle brake was successfully fitted. It was this that gave the Allies a weapon that could deal with the armor of the Tiger.
The package holds models of both vehicles as plastic kits, that is unassembled and unpainted. The make-up of the package, the number of parts and the range of finishes offered are given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
Cut the parts from the sprue with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down. Seat the tracks so that they sit on the road wheels with no visible gap; only then stand the model on a flat board and check that it rests on all its wheels. Glue the long barrels of both vehicles on only after painting, as they are easily broken off. Finally, a light dusting of the lower hull in a shade matching the setting the vehicle is meant to stand in pays off.
The set suits collectors of Second World War vehicles and anyone who wants both sides of one encounter side by side in a single display case. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
