A sheet of American national insignia in 1:72 scale, covering the form of the star with bars from 1943 to 1947 as well as the later postwar version.
Responsibility details are not available.
The American national insignia went through several changes during the war and each of them had a practical reason. The white star in a blue circle was hard to tell apart from the Japanese red disc, so in 1943 rectangular bars were added at its sides, stretching the outline sideways and making it unmistakable even at a distance. The white border of the insignia was briefly tried with a red outline as well, but that episode lasted only a few months. The postwar change of 1947 brought the red back in a different way, as a horizontal stripe inside the white rectangles, and in this form the insignia has survived to this day.
This sheet carries both of the later forms, that is, the version valid between 1943 and 1947 and the version introduced in 1947 and used to the present day.
What you get is a printed film without plastic parts.
On a model the two forms of the insignia come in useful more often than it seems. Postwar machines flew in wartime finish for a long time, and conversely some aircraft received the new insignia before they managed to change to the postwar paint. A combination is therefore not a mistake, it just needs to be backed by a photograph of the particular aircraft. Put the leftover insignia from the sheet aside, they will come in useful for a later build from the same period.
