Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Universal Carrier I Mk.I light tracked carrier in the variant armed with the Boys anti-tank rifle, in 1:72 scale from the Polish maker IBG Models. It is exactly the anti-tank rifle that sets this kit apart from the basic version without heavy armament. The model is supplied as a set of fine parts to be glued and painted.
The Universal Carrier (also known as the Bren Carrier) was a small, lightly armored tracked carrier with an open hull, one of the most widespread vehicles of its class. It served the British Commonwealth and, through the Lend-Lease program, Polish units and the Red Army as well. The Boys anti-tank rifle of 13.9 mm (.55) caliber was a British bolt-action weapon for fighting light armor; at the start of the war it could threaten armored cars and light tanks, but as the war went on its effectiveness against thickening armor declined. Paired with a mobile carrier it formed an improvised anti-tank support for the infantry.
Assemble the running gear and the tracks first; paint the interior of the open hull including the mounting for the Boys rifle before you build the armor plates around the hull — it stays in view. Paint over a primer in British khaki (SCC). Pull the grooves and the rivets out with a dark wash and weather the running gear and the underside with pigments (mud, dust). Bring out the barrel and the fittings of the weapon gently with a metallic tone.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
