Black Red

Black Red - a Vallejo Model Color acrylic paint

An extremely dark red on the border of black from the Model Color range by Acrylicos Vallejo. The water-thinnable acrylic in a 17 ml dropper bottle is heavily pigmented, dries matte and plays a role in a figure painter's palette that pure black cannot fill - it gives the shadows of red areas depth without a dirty look.

Use

• The ideal first coat when painting red in layers: a blackish red base, a saturated red in the middle and a light highlight on the edges.
• Excellent on dark leather straps, old wood, rust in deep shadow or mahogany fittings.
• On a brush straight from the bottle; in an airbrush once thinned with water or Vallejo thinner.
• Mixed with brighter reds it creates a smooth range of shadows with no graying.
• Once dry it can be overpainted with other acrylics, washes and glazes.

Who it is for

Above all for figure painters who build red areas up in layers - cloaks, banners, drapery. It will serve builders of vehicles too: a blackish red is excellent on interior details, hydraulics or for darkening red markings so that they do not look garish in a small scale.

A water-based acrylic paint with no aggressive solvents. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
