CRE-02 Mr.Color Revival - Cerulean Blue

The color

Cerulean Blue is a bright saturated blue with a noticeable shift toward green. Against dark navy blues it comes across as lighter and cooler, while against turquoise tones it is bluer. It therefore suits everywhere blue is to be striking without being dark. The shade is listed in the Mr.Color Revival range under the designation CRE-02; the manufacturer gives the degree of sheen and the recommended thinning for a gun and for a brush on the packaging.

Where it is useful

On modern civil machinery, sports cars, motorcycles and ship superstructures, on the colored features of science fiction models and robots and also on small items meant to lighten the overall look. It will also serve well as a brightening tone when the blue on a model is too dark and the upper surfaces need to breathe. Blue pigments tend to cover less well than grays and greens, so on a dark base reckon with a higher number of coats or with a lighter base coat.

How to apply the paint

• Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Thin it with the thinner of the same range and spray it in two or three thin coats.
• Build a saturated blue up with several thin applications rather than one thick coat, which floods the engraving.
• Let a smooth gloss coat dry under decals; on a matte surface a silvery edge appears around a decal.
• Let the paint dry through before masking, as a fresh film peels off with the tape.

What is in the box

One bottle of paint. The thinner, a brush, varnishes and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
