Easycutting Type 1 is a work mat from the AK interactive range. It is neither a kit nor a tool in the true sense, but a surface you lay on the table and then cut plastic on, separate parts, slice tapes and films or scribe lines. The purpose is twofold: to protect the table top from cuts, glue and paint, and at the same time to save blades. A knife run over a hard board goes blunt or snaps considerably sooner than on a mat that gives slightly under the edge.
Guide the knife over the mat by pulling, not by pressing, and change the blade before it starts to tear the material instead of cutting it: a blunt edge ruins both the cut and the surface of the mat. Do not use the mat as a rest for a hot glue gun or as a palette for aggressive thinners. If space on your bench is limited, check the size first. The same range also includes a Type 2 version.
For modelers who build on a table shared with other activities and do not want to cut it up, and for anyone who does a lot of cutting and scribing and wants a steady, predictable surface under the knife. It also serves well as a portable workplace that can be put aside after a session with the work still in progress.
This is not a kit. Knives, blades and other tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
