F-35 Lightning II - Revell Email Color

A Revell Email Color paint set for the F-35 model

Under the Email Color line the German brand Revell offers solvent-based synthetic paints, and this set is put together for painting the F-35 Lightning II fighter. The shades aim at the low-visibility gray coat the machine wears with all of its users.

How an enamel differs from a water-thinnable paint

The paint comes in glass bottles of 14 ml and is thinned with Revell Color Mix, not with water; the same product will also serve for cleaning brushes. The dried film is tough and takes later weathering well, but it will not stand a nitrocellulose coat sprayed over it, so choose a top varnish that is compatible with enamel.

Use

• brush and airbrush alike; for the airbrush thin the paint to thin cream
• stir the contents of the bottle until the pigment comes up completely from the bottom
• apply thinly, onto a degreased and previously primed surface
• allow a longer drying time between layers, a synthetic sets more slowly than an acrylic

Who the set is for

It will be appreciated by builders of contemporary aircraft who want the shades together instead of putting single bottles side by side. The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a single-engine multirole aircraft with a reduced radar signature, built in three versions: the land-based A, the short take-off and vertical landing B, and the carrier-borne C.

The product contains organic solvents. Work in a ventilated space, away from open flame and out of the reach of children.
