A glass modeling file in the long version. It serves for cleaning up excess material and joints, and the abrasive surface can be washed with water and does not clog.
Responsibility details are not available.
A glass file is a tool for finishing work: it levels the spot where a part was cut off, evens out a glued joint, unifies sanded putty and rids an edge of small burrs. It works gently, so it suits places where coarse abrasive paper would take off more material than is healthy and where it matters that the surface stays flat.
The abrasive surface is the surface of the glass itself. It therefore has no backing to wear through and no grit to crumble away, and it does not clog like abrasive paper. When it gets choked with dust, rinsing it with water and letting it dry is enough. The long version moreover lets you run the stroke in one plane over a longer distance, so a flat surface is evened out more easily than with a short tool and no waves form on it.
Work with light pressure and by drawing in one direction; do not press on the material and let the surface do the work. Check your progress by looking against the light as you go, because fine sanding advances slowly and it is still possible to go too far. The file does not serve for separating parts; use nippers or a sharp blade for that. Glass is brittle: do not lever it, do not bend it and protect it from falling onto a hard surface when you put it down. After work, rinse the tool, dry it and put it away in its sleeve.
For builders of plastic models, figures and accessories who want clean joints without constantly changing abrasive papers, and for anyone who appreciates a tool with a long life. The package contains the file. Abrasive papers, putty and other tools are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
