GRASS FLOCK 2MM SUMMER

Static grass 2 mm in a summer shade from AK interactive

Loose static grass with a fiber length of 2 mm. The short fiber is intended for low growth that has been mown or trodden down: lawns beside buildings, yards, road shoulders, pastures, the areas between rails and the edges of paths. The summer shade is a richer and warmer green than the spring version of the same range and, unlike the autumn shades, it has no yellow-brown cast, so it looks like growth in full vegetation, neither parched nor just sprouting. The fiber length is a dimension, not a scale: you can use the grass in any scale, and in the larger scales it will simply represent shorter growth.

Use

• Apply a layer of PVA glue or a glue intended for grass and scatter the fibers into the glue while it is still wet, not onto dry glue.
• For upright fibers use an electrostatic applicator; without one the fibers lie down, which on the other hand suits trodden paths and the surroundings of buildings.
• Once dry, tap or vacuum off the excess and use it again, as the consumption is then considerably lower.
• Do not scatter a single shade over the whole area. A uniform color looks artificial; mix the summer green with a dry or autumn shade and break the tone up according to where the sun falls.
• Two millimeters is the basic area; leave the longer fibers for tufts by fences, walls and ditches, where grass is not really mown.
• The finished growth can be gently toned with thinned acrylic or pigments, so that it ties in with the surrounding terrain.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and vignettes, railway modelers and gamers who prepare gaming bases and terrain boards. Short grass is the most universal item to keep in stock, because it forms the basic area on which everything else is then built.

The fibers are very fine and fly about, so work on a mat and away from drafts. Keep out of the reach of children and in a closed package, so that the material does not clump with moisture.
