The R-98MT guided missile 1:32 is a 3D printed resin replica of an upgraded heat-guided air-to-air missile in 1:32 scale for completing the underwing armament of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains a 3D printed resin replica of the Soviet R-98MT air-to-air guided missile in 1:32 scale. This is an accessory for the underwing armament, not a model of an aircraft. A resin print holds the fine definition of the glazed seeker head as well as the thin surfaces of the fins, which are usually simplified on an injection-molded part.
The R-98MT is the upgraded infrared-guided version of the R-98 family, known in the West as the AA-3 Anab. It came about for the Sukhoi Su-15TM interceptor and was carried paired with the radar R-98MR version. The combination of heat and radar guidance raised the probability of a hit against a target that defended itself by jamming. The heat-seeking head is recognized by the transparent cover on the tip.
First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Assemble and paint the weapons separately and glue them onto the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces are not rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
