A primary color in a magenta shade under the designation HCR-02, in a gloss finish on a water base. The basis for reds, pinks and purples.

Magenta tends to be the least familiar shade of the whole trio of primary colors for modelers, because a ready-made red is usually there on the shelf. Yet it is magenta that is the correct starting color: on its own it is cool, with a cast toward pink, and only by adding yellow does it become the red you are looking for. The shade under the designation HCR-02 comes in a gloss finish on a water base.
The road to warm colors runs through yellow: a few drops give a deep red, a larger proportion moves the shade toward orange. In the other direction, that is with cyan, purple tones appear, and with a larger proportion of cyan a deep blue. Magenta also suits fine tuning: a tiny amount added to a brown or a sand color warms the shade and takes the grayness out of it. Add it drop by drop, as primary colors are strong and one extra drop can move the whole batch somewhere other than where you wanted.
A gloss surface is the best base under decals, because no air is left under the carrier film and the edge of the print does not then betray itself with a light halo. You then set the final look with a final clear coat, anywhere from full gloss to a deep matte surface.
Stir the contents thoroughly before work so that the shade is the same throughout the batch. For the thinner, the thinning ratio and cleaning your tools, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. The package contains paint in the stated shade; a model, brushes, thinner and clear coat are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
