R-73 guided missile with launchers, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin replica of the heat-seeking short-range R-73 missile including the launchers, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin replica of the Soviet R-73 air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale, together with launchers of the APU-73 series for aircraft of the Su-27 and MiG-29 families. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the external stores, one that can be hung straight onto a pylon.
The R-73 is a Soviet infrared-guided short-range missile which in its day was among the best in the world. It can acquire a target off the flight axis, which lets the pilot attack an aircraft that is not directly in front of him. It is controlled by jet vanes behind the nozzle combined with aerodynamic surfaces, which makes it exceptionally agile. It is carried by fighters of the MiG-29 and Su-27 families and by other Russian combat aircraft.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Assemble and paint the armament separately and glue it to the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces do not get rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
