The set brings 3D printed resin replacements for the external sensors, antennas and air pressure probes on a model of the Su-30SM in 1:32 scale. These small things tend always to be thickened in injection-molded plastic and it stands out on a finished model. The print can manage them at a thickness that matches reality.
The Su-30SM is the modern Russian version of the two-seat multirole aircraft of the Su-27 family, equipped with new avionics and a wider range of weapons. On its nose, spine and wings it carries a range of small external items: pressure and angle-of-attack probes, the antennas of radio systems and receivers that warn of being illuminated. Their arrangement differs according to the production batch, so they serve as a clue for identifying a particular machine. In reality they are thin rods and vanes that a mold cannot render to scale.
First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Hold the small parts over a dish while cutting them off so that they do not get lost, and glue them on only after the surrounding area has been painted.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
