A resin landing gear wheel set for a model of the MiG-21 fighter in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print renders both the tread pattern and the shape of the rim without the mold seam that runs down the middle of a plastic wheel. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts for a model you already have.
The MiG-21 is a single-engine fighter with a circular air intake in the nose and a delta wing, built in enormous numbers and in service all over the world, Czechoslovakia included. Its landing gear is simple and robust, with the main wheels retracting into the fuselage. The wheels changed from version to version over the long production run, so it is worth comparing the part with the subject you are building.
Cut the print supports away with a scalpel and level the seating face so that the wheel sits square to the leg. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the tire a very dark gray and the rim separately, following the real subject. On an aircraft from a grass airfield, a greenish-brown tint along the bottom of the tread works well.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
