Needle files are small files with a slender body and a handle in one piece. They reach places an ordinary workshop file will not fit: into grooves, holes, corners and to parts you hold between your fingers. This set holds ten pieces 140 mm long, a size that is comfortable to hold between the fingers.
For cleaning up mold parting lines and flash after a part is taken off the sprue, for leveling the mark of a cut sprue gate, for reworking the shape of small parts, for widening and truing holes and for fine-tuning mating surfaces before gluing. A file takes material off by abrasion; it does not cut. Make a heavier intervention with a saw or a blade, then, and only finish the shape with a file.
Guide the file with light pressure and in one direction, releasing the pressure on the return stroke. On plastic work slowly, so that the material does not smear with heat and clog the teeth. Clean a clogged file with a brush, stroking across the teeth. After working a surface, polish it with fine abrasive paper, otherwise the grooves left by the file would show through sprayed paint. Store the files so that they do not rub against each other, and protect them from damp.
For building plastic and resin models, for figures and for small accessories. It will serve a beginner as basic equipment and an experienced modeler as a set for fine work. The package holds the files only; abrasive paper and other tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
