Tamiya Masking Fluid – a liquid mask

Masking Fluid from Tamiya is a water-based liquid masking fluid in a light green shade. It is applied with a brush and serves to cover places where masking tape would adapt badly — small areas, curves, seams and intricate shapes. Once dry it forms a flexible rubbery membrane which, after painting, you simply peel off or cut away to reveal a clean base.

Use

• Apply with a brush onto areas you want to protect from paint (canopies, rubber parts, camouflage transitions)
• Let it dry into a flexible rubbery film (in the order of tens of minutes, depending on the layer)
• Paint over it with an airbrush or a brush as needed
• Once the paint has dried, peel the mask off carefully; at the edges it can be cut with the tip of a knife
• Wash the brush with water immediately after use

Who it is for

For plastic modelers who need to mask difficult shapes, curves and small areas that tape does not sit down on well. Suitable for aircraft, vehicles and figures.

A water-based product. Do not leave an excessively thick layer dried on for a long time, keep out of reach of children and ventilate while working.
