Metal Primer

Metal Primer (Tamiya)

A special primer intended for metal. It improves the adhesion and durability of paint on metal parts — aluminum, cast, pressed and photo-etched — on which ordinary modeling paints otherwise hold badly and tend to peel off. The primer is transparent, so it does not change the shape or the fine detail of a part, and it does not damage plastic, which means it can also be applied to metal parts already glued to a plastic model.

Use

• Apply onto cleaned and degreased metal and photo-etched parts before painting.
• It creates a transition layer on which paint holds markedly better.
• The transparent film will not cover the fine details of etched parts.
• It does not damage plastic, so it can be used on metal parts attached to a plastic model.
• Let it dry properly and only then apply the paint.

Who it is for

For modelers who work with photo-etched parts and metal parts (gun barrels, chains, white metal accessories) and need paint to hold on them reliably.

The primer contains flammable solvents. Work in a well ventilated space, use a respirator, keep away from open flame and keep out of reach of children.
