A resin set of landing gear legs for a model of the MiG-29K carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. For the sets in this series the manufacturer states printing from a strong polymer reinforced with steel pins, and the extended position with the lines, the landing lights and a fender picked out. Plastic legs sag in time under the weight of a finished model; here that problem falls away. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts.
The MiG-29K is the carrier version for operation from an aircraft carrier. It launches over a ski-jump ramp and lands onto arresting wires, so the landing gear takes incomparably harder treatment than on a land-based machine: the aircraft touches down with its full weight and without a flare. The structure of the legs is therefore reinforced and it differs from the land-based version, which is clearly visible on a model.
Release the parts from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating faces. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the legs before fitting and bring the lines out with a dark tone run into the recesses. On carrier hardware, weathering that leans toward gray suits the model, matching the salt haze, with a hint of corrosion on the edges.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
