A gray modeling putty for the seams left after parts have been glued, for grooves left by coarser sanding and for small hollows in a surface. Without filling, such a place is not hidden by an opaque paint; on the contrary it is emphasized, because the paint flows into the hollow while the surroundings stay smooth. It is a one-part putty, so it is not mixed with a hardener and is applied straight from the container.
First free the area of dust and grease. Apply the putty with a spatula, a flat blade or a toothpick and preferably in several thin layers rather than in one heavy one; a heavy layer dries unevenly and crumbles when sanded. Let each layer dry and only then add the next. The drying time and what the tools are cleaned with are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging, because they differ from one range to another. Level the dried place with fine abrasive paper and run a finger over it or look at it against the light, so that you can see whether the transition is smooth.
The gray shade stands out on light plastic, so while sanding you can tell where the putty still lies and where you have reached the part. It is just as visible on a base color, where the places that need more filling are being looked for.
The package contains the putty. Tools for applying it, abrasive paper, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
