Gunze Mr. Masking Sol Re2 (Masking Liquid) 20 ml

A liquid masking fluid from the Japanese manufacturer Gunze (GSI Creos) in a bottle of 20 ml. It is used everywhere masking tape fails: on curved surfaces, in corners, around small details or on irregular shapes. The fluid is applied with a brush, within tens of minutes it dries into a thin flexible film, and after spraying you simply peel that off. The designation Re2 refers to the reworked version: the fluid is more fluid, spreads well and the finished film comes off easily and without residue. It is not a paint and not a kit; it is an aid for masking during painting.

Use

• Apply it with a brush in an even coat on the places you want to protect from the spray. A heavier coat peels off better than a thin film.
• Let it dry until the fluid has become a continuous semi-transparent film, roughly tens of minutes depending on the coat, the temperature and the humidity.
• The dried film can be trimmed precisely with a sharp point (a scalpel or a design knife), so you can create a sharp mask edge as well.
• After spraying and once the paint is fully dry, peel the film off carefully; pointed tweezers or a toothpick help.
• Ideal for cockpit glazing, viewing ports, small details and wheels, and also for the irregular borders of camouflage patches.
• Fluid that has thickened can be thinned with water in the bottle; clean the brush right after use, before the fluid dries.

Who it is for

For modelers who spray with an airbrush and need to mask shapes that tape cannot sensibly be used on. It proves itself on aircraft canopies, at the transitions between camouflage fields, when masking small parts and everywhere applying tape would be lengthy or imprecise.

Safety note: keep out of the reach of children, do not swallow and avoid contact with the eyes. Work in a ventilated space. Store the bottle tightly closed so that the fluid does not dry out; do not expose it to frost or direct sun. Do not pour the fluid down the drain.
