Mr. Paper Card Sandpaper, 800 grit (Gunze)

Sandpaper from the Japanese manufacturer Gunze in a card format, in 800 grit. The fine grit is there for finishing: it evens the surface out after finer sanding, removes small specks and dust caught in the varnish layer and prepares the area for a gloss coat, metallic effects or decals. The card format keeps its shape and can be worked on small areas as well. The dimensions, the number of sheets in the package and whether it suits wet sanding are stated on the box.

Use

• Use 800 grit only at the end of the sanding sequence, not to remove material.
• Guide it lightly and without pressure, otherwise you cut through the thin layer of paint down to the plastic.
• It is ideal for sanding between coats of gloss varnish, where it removes trapped dust.
• Clean the dust off the surface before the next coat and let it dry thoroughly.
• Work carefully on edges and engraved lines, because that is where the finish is sanded through fastest.

Who it is for

For modelers who work with gloss finishes, metallic shades and varnish under decals, so mainly for builders of cars, motorcycles and aircraft with a natural metal surface. It also suits the finishing of small parts and the repair of flaws in the finish. The same line comes in grits from 240 to 1000, so you can put together the whole sequence from coarse sanding to the final smoothing.

Do not inhale the sanding dust and work in a ventilated space; on larger areas a respirator is useful. Keep the sandpaper dry.
