Pilot figures with the ZSh-7 helmet, set No. 22, 1:48 is a set of resin figures of Russian Air Force pilots in an anti-g suit with the ZSh-7 helmet, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds resin figures of Russian Aerospace Forces pilots in gear that the manufacturer describes with the abbreviations PPK-3 and ZSh-7, in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for models of fourth-generation fighters. The protective helmet and the suit give the figure a silhouette that pins down the period.
The protective helmet of the ZSh-7 series has been part of fighter pilots' gear since the 1980s and is worn by the crews of the MiG-29 and Su-27 families. It has a molded shell with a hinged visor and a fixed oxygen mask. With it goes a suit that limits the effects of high g loads and helps the pilot stay conscious through violent maneuvers. It is precisely the combination of the helmet and this suit that defines the silhouette of a modern fighter pilot.
Wash the 3D-printed figures in warm soapy water and cut the print supports away with a sharp blade, carefully around the fingers and the gear. Sand them with respiratory protection and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a thin primer as the base, paint the faces and hands with a brush and lighten the shades step by step, and finish the flight suit with a dark wash in the folds. Add gloss varnish to the helmet and the visor.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
