A figure 75 mm tall cast in resin, from the Polish manufacturer PANZER ART. It is not a plastic kit: the parts are castings that are washed before painting and bonded with a different glue than polystyrene. The subject is a north European knight from the end of the 14th century in a bascinet helmet with a visor called the Klappvisor.
The Klappvisor is a visor hinged at a single pivot in the middle of the helmet brow. It swings fully upward and can easily be taken off. It appears on bascinets from the 1330s and forms the intermediate stage between the fixed nasal bar and the later visor hung on two pivots at the sides of the helmet. In Italy it disappears from use around 1380, while in the German and north European lands it stays in use longer, on some pieces into the 15th century. A knight of the late 14th century wore a mail aventail protecting the neck under the helmet and a mail shirt beneath the plate covering of the chest, and his legs and arms were already covered by plate parts — it is the look in which European armor was passing from mail to full plate.
Wash the castings of the mold release agent from the mold, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut off the casting blocks and protect your breathing while sanding. It is bonded only with super glue (cyanoacrylate) — ordinary cement for plastic will join nothing here. A primer is a must. At a height of 75 mm the face will take even fine layering with a brush; paint the metal, the mail armor and the fabric separately and leave the polished surfaces for last.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
