A photo-etched accessory for a model of the Chinese Type 054B frigate QinZhou in 1:700 scale from the same manufacturer as the kit itself. It replaces the plastic parts where the thickness of the material is a problem at this scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Type 054B is a newer line of multirole missile frigates of the PLA Navy, following on from the numerous Type 054A class. The ship carries the name QinZhou. Compared with the older units it is larger and has smoother, less broken-up shaping of the superstructures.
These are photo-etched parts intended for the kit of the frigate QinZhou in 1:700 scale. At this scale photo-etch comes into its own everywhere an element is meant to look thin and yet be strong, so after it is used a model looks substantially finer than it would from plastic alone. The extent of the parts and their placing on the model are described in the enclosed instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with cutters, which bend the material. Make the bends over a photo-etch bending tool or at least over a straight blade, so that the edge comes out sharp and at a right angle. For gluing, super glue applied in a minute amount with the tip of a wire is suitable. Before painting, degrease the surfaces and draw a primer over them, or further coats will not hold on the smooth metal.
The set is suitable for ship modelers who are used to working with tweezers and with very small parts. Lay the build out so that the fine elements are mounted at the very end, when you will no longer handle the model so much. The package contains only the photo-etched parts; the kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
