Vallejo Model Color Red Leather - acrylic paint 17 ml

A red-brown shade recalling tanned leather, from the acrylic Vallejo Model Color line. It is a modeling paint, not a kit - the package consists of one dropper bottle with a volume of 17 ml. Model Color is a water-thinnable acrylic with high pigmentation that dries to a durable flat finish.

Model Color or Model Air? The key difference

Vallejo runs several acrylic lines side by side. Model Color is a thicker acrylic intended above all for the brush and has to be thinned with water or Vallejo thinner before airbrushing. The Model Air line, by contrast, is ready for an airbrush straight away. This shade belongs to the Model Color line - for detail work with a brush that is an advantage, as the thicker paint covers better and does not run off small parts.

• A base under rust - the warm red-brown tone is an ideal foundation on which rust pigments and washes are then laid.

Work tips

Shake the bottle thoroughly; the dropper then doses the paint drop by drop with no waste. On leather it looks best when you do not leave the shade flat: Red Leather as the base, a darker brown wash into the recesses and a fine lighter pass over the edges - that gives the leather depth. As a base under rust, lay the shade down evenly and let it dry properly, and only then build the corrosion effects.
