Ready-made grass tufts in a summer green shade, 2 mm high. The low height is intended for grass that is regularly trodden down or grazed: the edges of field paths, the areas between rails, the joints in paving, the ground around buildings and the strips along fences. It is exactly such areas that make a diorama believable, because a continuous green scatter on its own looks flat.
Take a tuft with tweezers, lay it in place and press it down, so that it seats on its whole underside. Whether the tufts have a self-adhesive underside is stated by the manufacturer; if not, put a drop of PVA glue on the base and set the tuft into it. Place them irregularly, in clumps of unequal size and with gaps, not in rows; the grass benefits if you tilt some tufts with a finger or shorten them with scissors. Once dry they can be refined with a glaze or a light touch of dust from an airbrush, so that they match the surrounding terrain in color.
They will find use on a diorama, on a display base under a vehicle and on a model railway. Low tufts can be combined with the taller tufts of the same range, with static grass and with scatters; it is the alternation of heights that brings an area to life. The number of tufts on a sheet is stated by the manufacturer.
