Thorns Plants - 3D Printed Thorny Vegetation, 18 Pieces

This is a diorama accessory, not a model kit and not figures. The package holds eighteen pieces of 3D printed thorny plants, used as low vegetation on a figure base, in the corner of a diorama or along a track and a wall. Thorny bushes have two roles in a diorama. First they break up empty areas where the eye otherwise has nowhere to stop, and second they help the scene establish its setting: dry, sparse and prickly vegetation reads differently from a soft grassy area.

Use

• Check the parts before gluing, remove any remains of the print supports and get the dust off the area you are going to glue.
• They are glued with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate, or with epoxy. Modeling cement for polystyrene does not work here.
• The thin shoots and thorns are fragile; handle the parts with tweezers and do not press on them while setting them into the base.
• Before painting it is worth giving the parts a thin primer; acrylic then holds evenly along the whole length of the stems.
• Paint from a darker tone at the ground to a lighter one at the top and use several green or dry shades; one flat color gives away that it is a casting.
• Finish the base around the plants with earth, sand or grass material, so that the transition does not look harsh.

Who the set is for

For diorama makers and figure painters who want to add vegetation to a base without the laborious assembly of wire and static grass. It can be used in military and fantasy scenes alike, on display bases for figures and with vehicles and technical settings.

The set is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and further materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
