A white polystyrene sheet 0.5 mm thick and 105x148 mm in size, that is A6 format. The package holds 2 pieces. It is not a kit — it is raw stock, the basic material for scratchbuilding, that is for building your own parts that are not in the box or that you decide to make better.
Because it is exactly the same material the parts of a kit are molded from. That has one enormous practical consequence: it is glued with ordinary modeling (polystyrene) cement, which melts the plastic and welds the joint together. The sheet can be cut, sanded, drilled, shaped and filled in exactly the same way as parts from a kit, and it is painted the same way too. Unlike copper, resin or photo-etched parts, which call for different glues and a different procedure, polystyrene means you do not have to change anything at all in your established practice — it behaves like a model, because a model is what it is.
It is a thin sheet, and that is its strength: you do not have to cut all the way through it. It is enough to score it with a knife and snap it — the edge comes out clean and it is quick. At the same time it can be bent under gentle heat and adapted to rounded shapes. For more substantial, self-supporting parts that have to carry something it is better to reach for a thicker sheet — thin and thick sheets complement each other well in the workshop and it is practical to have several thicknesses to hand.
This is a material (a raw material) for modeling work, not a kit. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package.
