A paint set for the aircraft of the US Navy and the Marine Corps in the Second World War contains six 17 ml bottles from the lacquer-based Real Colors line.

Six paints of 17 ml from the Real Colors line, put together for the naval aircraft schemes of the Second World War. Real Colors is a lacquer-type line: it is not thinned with water or with acrylic thinner, only with the thinner of the same line. That is the most common mistake we come across with this line, and it usually costs one ruined bottle.
A six-color set almost always meets a model that is not made of one material: injection-molded plastic, a resin accessory, a photo-etched part, some filler here and a sanded area there. Each of those surfaces takes paint differently, so the same shade looks different on resin than on the plastic next to it. A base is the only way to even that out — a uniform primer over the whole model gives every surface the same absorbency and the same starting tone, so that the paints from the set sit on one another the way the manufacturer intended. On photo-etch and resin the primer has one more role: wash the mold release agent off the parts and degrease them beforehand, otherwise not even the primer will hold. Make the transitions between the individual shades of the scheme with thin passes and let the underlying tone show through in places, so that the surface does not read as a flat, uniform coat.
For builders of carrier aircraft of the Second World War and for modelers who want the paints for one group of machines together and in matching chemistry.
Keep the paints out of the reach of children, use them in a well-ventilated area and wear a respirator when spraying.
