Tamiya XF-50 Field Blue is a matte acrylic modeling paint in a 10 ml package — a blue-gray shade that the manufacturer recommends for Luftwaffe uniforms. It is a paint, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A blue-gray modeling paint from Tamiya's Acrylic MINI line. The package holds 10 ml and contains only paint — it is not a kit. The letters in the designation tell you about the finish: X = gloss line, XF = matte line. XF-50 therefore dries to a matte, non-glossy surface, which is natural for fabric, textiles and uniforms — a gloss finish would look false on a figure.
XF-50 can be applied with a brush or an airbrush. For spraying, thin the paint with X-20A acrylic thinner — the X-20 thinner is meant for enamel paints and does not mix well with acrylics. On figures, a thinner coat applied in several passes works well: the matte surface then reads like cloth, not plastic. Stir the paint before applying it, so the shade stays consistent throughout the work.
For modelers of figures and dioramas from the Second World War, especially with a focus on the Luftwaffe, and for anyone who needs a reliable matte blue-gray.
Work with adequate ventilation. Protect your airways when airbrushing. Store the paint out of the reach of children.
