ES05 Essential Set Basic Colors Volume 2

The ES05 set of basic colors

A set of Lifecolor modeling paints listed under the designation ES05 Essential Set Basic Colors Volume 2. It is the second part of the basic range, that is a selection of shades from which most ordinary color tasks can be built.

What a basic set is for

Basic shades are to a modeling palette what salt and flour are in a kitchen. You will not always use them directly, but almost any specific tone can be arrived at from them: by lightening, by toning down or by mixing into a finished paint. The second part of the range follows on from the first and widens the selection with further basic tones, so that together they cover a broader field than either does alone. For a beginning modeler such a set is a simpler and clearer route than assembling a palette bottle by bottle according to immediate need.

How to work with the paints

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use and stir the contents; the pigment settles at the bottom.
• The paint covers better in two thin coats than in one thick one; let each coat dry.
• Try the shade out on a piece of waste plastic, not straight on the model.
• Prepare mixed shades with some to spare; the same tone is hard to hit a second time.
• The manufacturer gives the way of thinning and of cleaning tools on the label of the bottle; follow it.

Who the set is for

For modelers who put their palette together themselves and want a foundation to mix from, and for beginners for whom it pays to buy a sensible selection at once. It comes into its own on builds of machinery and on figures alike, because basic tones are not tied to a single subject.

The package contains paints. Brushes, thinner, varnish and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
