An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-3 fighter in 1:72 scale from Smer. It is an older, simpler reboxed mold with engraved as well as suggested lines; the package holds clear parts for the canopy glazing and waterslide decals. The model is a ready choice for a collection of Second World War fighters.
The Yakovlev Yak-3 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the end of the Second World War, valued for its small size, low weight and excellent agility at low and medium altitude. It was among the best frontline fighters of the Eastern Front and made its name, among others, with the French Normandie-Niemen squadron fighting on the Soviet side. It was liked for easy handling and a rapid rate of climb.
With older molds reckon on possible flash and on cleaning up the parting lines. Use liquid cement for plastic, finish the cockpit before the fuselage is closed and fill the gaps as needed. Lay down a primer before painting and apply the paints with an airbrush; gray-blue undersides and green-gray upper camouflage are typical of Soviet machines. Mask the glazing and fit it at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
