U-STAR Etch Slide Change Parts 23 is a set of fine photo-etched parts intended for detailing plastic models. It is an accessory that is glued onto an already built or part-built model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A universal photo-etched set from the manufacturer U-STAR. The contents of the package are a fret with small etched elements, which the modeler cuts out and glues wherever the level of detail needs raising. The set does not replace a kit and is not tied to one particular model, and that is exactly the point of it. It is used most often on robots and sci-fi equipment, where plastic parts offer large empty areas. The number in the name distinguishes the variants of the motifs within the whole range.
Photo-etched parts cannot be done without tools. The basics are pointed tweezers, a sharp scalpel with a fresh blade, a hard surface and cyanoacrylate glue, ideally the gel version. A bender, or at least a metal strip and a flat object over which an edge can be folded precisely, also comes in useful. Do the work over a light surface with a raised rim: a part that falls on the floor is as a rule never found again.
Degrease the fret first, so that the glue holds evenly. Separate the part with the pressure of a scalpel against the surface, not by twisting. Try the spot on the model dry and only then apply the glue, best of all with a pin or a thin wire, because a drop from the tube is too large for such a small part. Let any excess glue dry and carefully trim it off; smearing it only spreads it over the surface. A base coat is needed before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal.
This is an accessory set. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
