Big Ed is a bundle of several separate Eduard accessory sets for one kit, sold together in a single box instead of as individual sets. This bundle is intended for a model of the F-35A fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane kit: the model itself is obtained separately. Several bundles of this brand exist for the same type and scale, so before buying, compare which one matches your kit. Check the make-up of the bundle and the number of parts against the box.
The F-35A is the conventional version of the Lightning II intended for takeoff and landing from an ordinary runway, unlike the B version with short takeoff and vertical landing and the carrier-based C version with larger lifting surfaces. It is a single-seat machine with one Pratt & Whitney F135 engine, internal weapons bays and a surface shaped and treated so as to reduce radar signature. It is precisely the broken-up panels and the transitions between them that are the most striking visual mark of the machine for a modeler, and working them cleanly takes the most effort.
Separate photo-etched parts with a scalpel on a hard surface and bend them in a bending tool or against a metal rule. Glue with super glue applied with a stick in a minimal amount; any excess would leave a haze on a smooth area. Do not overspray the color-printed parts with clear coats that would attack the print. Apply the masks to degreased glazing, pull them off with tweezers at a sharp angle after spraying and do not leave them on the model needlessly long. On this type it pays to plan the order of work in advance, because once fine parts are glued on the surface can no longer be sanded comfortably.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
