Flexible tin wire with a diameter of 2 mm from Green Stuff World. A soft metal that holds a bent shape, so it suits hoses, cables and ropes.
Responsibility details are not available.
A soft metal wire on a spool with a diameter of 2 mm. Its essential property is its pliability: the wire bends with your fingers and stays in the bent position. That is exactly why it is more useful to a modeler than springy steel wire, which always springs back a little after bending and never sits exactly where you want it.
The thickest diameters suit tow ropes, hydraulic hoses, electrical cables, towing eyes and pipework in an engine bay. It also serves as reinforcement inside figures sculpted from putty or as the armature of climbing plants in dioramas. The wire is cut with nippers and the ends can be flattened with pliers, which creates a simple end fitting or an attachment eye.
Degrease the wire before painting and apply a primer, or the finish will rub off the smooth metal. For a convincing rope, bend the wire so that the sag comes from its own weight and not from sharp kinks. If you need a thinner diameter, the wire can be drawn lightly between your fingers and stretched, but count on it breaking at its thinnest point.
This is a material, not a finished part. Degreasing and a primer are recommended before painting.
