Behind the plain name Green sits a shade that only the standard number pins down: FS 34102. The leading three belongs to the matte group of the Federal Standard 595 color standard, the four in second place to the green family, and the last two digits separate the shade from dozens of other greens. With paints of this kind the number therefore matters more than the name.
Greens from the matte group of the standard go on the camouflage surfaces of vehicles and aircraft and on equipment that has to blend into its surroundings. Because the shade has no pronounced blue or brown cast, it combines and mixes well: shifting it to a warmer tone with a drop of ocher or toning it down with gray is a matter of a few drops.
Wash and degrease the surface, then stir the bottle thoroughly. Apply in thin coats and let each one become tacky for a moment. Mix custom shades in a sufficient quantity at once, because matching the same tone later is almost impossible and the patch will show on the model. Keep the rest in a closed container for later touch-ups. Thin it with the thinner intended for this paint range; the thinning ratio is stated by the manufacturer.
