Greyish Green is a gray-green shade from the Orange Line range by Hataka. The figure in brackets refers to the FS 595 color standard, which is used by the US Army and the US Air Force and which has become established in modeling as a common language for the shades of camouflage and interiors. The number of the standard lets the shade be traced and compared with the corresponding shades of other manufacturers without having to rely on the name alone.
The thinner made for this range and the thinning ratio are given by the manufacturer on the packaging; keep to those instructions, because every range has its own thinner and a swap only shows up on the model. Stir the paint thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom during storage. With an airbrush, apply more thin coats rather than one heavy one: a thin coat does not lose the surface detail and dries better. With a brush, work quickly and do not pull the coat a second time until it has dried.
The shade stands out on an evened-out base, so it pays to prime the model first, above all when it combines plastic, metal and filler. Gray-green shades change optically on a model according to the sheen, so judge the final impression only after a matte or semi-gloss varnish has gone over it. Before spraying the whole model, test the shade on a piece of plastic or on the underside of a part.
