The second set of photo-etched hand wheels from the Polish maker Aber. It holds the control wheels of valves, closures, watertight doors and hatches in diameters and forms other than those the first selection offers - the two sets are designed so as to complement each other. The fret is not tied to a single scale; you pick the parts according to the size of the detail on your model. This is not a kit; it is an accessory for a model you already have.
Wheels are one of the details hardest to manage in plastic - the spokes tend to be thick and the gaps between them blind. Photo-etched sheet gives the part the right proportion as well as real openings. You will value the second selection above all when you need wheels of different types side by side on a model, or when the first set has run out of exactly the sizes you use most often.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel against a hard support; never break them out. You will achieve greater relief by gluing two wheels one over the other or by adding a central hub from a piece of wire. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest amount; in combination with brass wire the joint can even be soldered. Degrease the brass before painting and apply a metal primer, otherwise the paint will peel off the smooth surface. Control wheels on real machinery tend to be picked out in a different color - a small accent of color helps a model.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
